Makaha Valley Towers (MVT)
A guide to Makaha Valley Towers and this condo.
First: check in at the office, or check in at the security gate if is after 5pm, or you arrive on Saturday or Sunday.
There will be an authorization form on file that we have completed.
Front entry
In Hawaii you remove your shoes before entering. There is a convenient bench with storage by the front door for this purpose.
Storage and Lock Box
Across from the bench is a locked storage closet with beach chairs, an umbrella and a cooler for you to use. The circuit breakers are also in this closet. Next to the storage door is the lock box with a key to get you into the condo. Return it to the lock box after getting in. More keys are in the small drawer to the left of the sink.
Mail:
You will use the mail box for 1914 on the 8th floor. If you have a package, there will be key left in the mailbox with a number on it. Go to that locker, unlock it and retrieve your package. You can also receive UPS and FedEx packages right at your door step. The front gate often calls to authorize a delivery.
Kitchen:
There is a convection microwave for both baking and warming food, with racks and bakeware to use, however, they must be removed when microwaving. Next to the cooktop is a toaster oven. You can use the Keurig or the drip coffee pot stored in the pantry.
In the pantry to the right of the refrigerator there are dishes, plastic glasses and wine glasses for four on a pull out. There are also a rice cooker, slow cooker, toaster, blender, electric kettle and two pitchers in the upper portion of the pantry.
Bistro Set
Face the chairs out or face them toward each. Great views either way! Happy hour time? Light the candles.
Please bring the set inside (see picture) when not using it. The winds are strong here, and who wants wet cushions?
WIFI:
Information is on the wall at the end of breakfast bar.
In the bathroom drawers are two beach towels and a variety of fix it items, light bulbs, batteries, etc.
Next to the bed on each side is a lamp with a USB port.
There is a smart tv in the bedroom that is also connected to cable.
Cable
Use the Spectrum remote and choose System On/Off on the upper left of the remote. The remote also has a channel guide. Both the living and bedroom system have DVR's. (A more complete guide is in the notebook in our condo.
Music
To play your own music, use the Yamaha remote and red Power button on the right top. Select AV 3. Create a Bluetooth connection between your device and YBA-11 Yamaha. If it does not appear you will need to reset the Bluetooth device (blue light) next to the Cisco box and re-scan.
Laundry
You will need to purchase laundry soap and fabric softener at at a store. There is none for sale onsite. The WASH laundry card is in the small drawer in the kitchen. It needs to be loaded using the machine found on the lower level by the Core 1 elevator. It costs $1.50 to wash and $1.50 to dry a load. You must use cash.
Locate the beach wagon in the bedroom closet. It is the easiest way to haul laundry (and groceries).
Load it up and head to the elevator. Go down to the 18th floor. Walk to the end of that floor (makai, or toward the ocean). The laundry room is in Core 1 by the elevators.
